Rio in the Rain
We liked Rio but Rio didnt like us much. We arrived to torrential rain which had caused a landslide blocking one of the main roads and causing many, many traffic jams. Our first challenge was getting from the airport to the hostel. There was a 2 hour queue for taxis/buses and the taxis that were coming were refusing to take us as the roads were so jammed. We eventually got to our hostel in Ipanema and went to see the beautiful rio beaches and mountains but in fact could only see clouds and mist and lots of rain. After 2 days of non-stop rain the sun came out and there were indeed beautiful beaches and mountains but then we had to leave but only after drinking lots of lovely caipirinias!!
